In 2017  the largest bicycle race has its start in Düsseldorf.

A former ‚grand departure‘  (London) inspired Gabrielle Stubbs to this paintingg (thank you that I can use it, Gaby!!)

and that inspired me to this poem.

Are the tires pumped up well
And is the bike an ahh and ooh
I hope you are ready for it
Because soon you will have to go

It is done with the time to relax
The hair should be fine
The legs properly waxed
The countdown goes, it is about time

Colourful teams
Supporters behind the fense
Sunshades set
All catched by the camera lense

We waited for it, in endure
But now we are ready to go
Up to France we go
Ready for the ‚grand departure‘

The grand parade is ready to go
What will happen, no one really knows
We dive under in Le Tour’s segragation
Up to Paris, the final destination

Okay.  enough of that.  At your marks get set…  GO!

. Preparations for the tribunes, where a seat costs (at least) 280 Euro.  We thought it was about sport?  Wrong, it is about money

At the 2nd of July the Tour de France Circus will cross to my home city.

Le Grand Departure..  The race against the clock

Preparation of runners, audience  (and photograph)

The race against the clock

The circus around the Tour de France

The preparations at the race

I got get used to see how fast they should ride .  With this kind of events the ’sport modus‘ of the camera is the most efficient.

And then.. The first race.

About 190  cyclists, every 1 minute one  departures.  Easy to spot individuals, but don’t ask me who is who, I have noooo idea!

La Tour at Facebook

And then…  the sunday, Le Tour de France in our city!  A lot of events, for a visit from about 20 minutes.  I truly loved it!

Passing by  in only a few minutes

Just because all bicycles look the same, I edited some a bit.   Don’t do this when your children are around 🙂

Johannismarkt

6 times a year there is a huge market in the inner city, on what a lot of things are available what you not too often see anymore. Herbs, clothes, curtains and so more. A good reason to visit it, with and without the camera.

In June  it is the Johannis Market

A trip at the Rhine

And what a day it was.

Extreme warm (over 30 degrees C), extreme water.  A boat trip, at the Rhine, another view at the familiar places.

The conditions were far from perfect for photography. Too warm, too much light. But, with a little bit of help, the camera was able to make acceptable photos.   Plenty of them, enjoy.

The river Rhine is the most important river in Europe for shipping transports.  In harmony with the recriaton ‚captain Jack Sparrows‘  😉

Germany booms. And Industry is ‚rrom nature‘  situated around the water. Photographic a very nice subject

The last decades a lot of effort is made to make the Rhine back to a river that has a rich natural environment.  It succeeded very well.

One of the examples, how wonderful it is to be ‚coached‘  by a photographer, to get to a great image.  Thanks to ‚teacher‘  Hans Georg 🙂

Peter Blacksmith

Sometimes you find people who are extremely gifted, and who you never heard or saw before.  How is it possible, that so many talent is hidden?

Here some work from the Belgian mastermind Peter Blacksmith.  With a  click at the first painting below (Magic!)  you come to his website.

Further I took the freedom to share a few of his works, in good tradition with some words to it.

Magic

Oil on canvas 180 x 120 cm

Consciousness

Sometimes I realize
How hard it is to pay the price
For knowing what I know
And not can letting go

Sometimes I just want to hide
Away from glamour and pride
close the curtains, dim the light
Just me and the shimmering light

Those sometimes mostly disappear
When I, again, am looking clear
Awaking from my dream
Leaving the nightmare in a scream

I leave my body and fly
Nothing to carry, nothing to feel shy
Flying back to the inner me
Proud with what I see

Travelling High

Travellng high. Painting and Music by Peter Blacksmith

click at the photo to hear the song that belongs to the painting

Let me travel high
Let you be free again
Away from the chains
Away from where you can not escape

Let me fly through the sky
With the unending view
Let me fly
Upon the dreams, that we once knew

You may say, it is a dream
And I tell you, it is is not
This is it, I have it seen
The sky is the limit an unendless spot

Let us travel high
Let us fly, into the blue
Feeling free again
Where ther is
just me and you
