In 2017 the largest bicycle race has its start in Düsseldorf.

A former ‚grand departure‘ (London) inspired Gabrielle Stubbs to this paintingg (thank you that I can use it, Gaby!!)
and that inspired me to this poem.
Are the tires pumped up well
And is the bike an ahh and ooh
I hope you are ready for it
Because soon you will have to go
It is done with the time to relax
The hair should be fine
The legs properly waxed
The countdown goes, it is about time
Colourful teams
Supporters behind the fense
Sunshades set
All catched by the camera lense
We waited for it, in endure
But now we are ready to go
Up to France we go
Ready for the ‚grand departure‘
The grand parade is ready to go
What will happen, no one really knows
We dive under in Le Tour’s segragation
Up to Paris, the final destination

Okay. enough of that. At your marks get set… GO!
. Preparations for the tribunes, where a seat costs (at least) 280 Euro. We thought it was about sport? Wrong, it is about money
At the 2nd of July the Tour de France Circus will cross to my home city.
Le Grand Departure.. The race against the clock
Preparation of runners, audience (and photograph)
The race against the clock
The circus around the Tour de France
The preparations at the race
I got get used to see how fast they should ride . With this kind of events the ’sport modus‘ of the camera is the most efficient.
And then.. The first race.
About 190 cyclists, every 1 minute one departures. Easy to spot individuals, but don’t ask me who is who, I have noooo idea!
La Tour at Facebook
And then… the sunday, Le Tour de France in our city! A lot of events, for a visit from about 20 minutes. I truly loved it!
Passing by in only a few minutes
Just because all bicycles look the same, I edited some a bit. Don’t do this when your children are around 🙂
