The Joy of Wintertime
The palette of December Days No vivid hues but subdued greys When nature seems to turn her gaze Away from brighter things It seems she dreams in monochrome And trees.. now naked set the tone Stand skeletal… not skin… but bone …. They await all Winter brings
Their limbs now bare, their colour dark But they share the beauty of their bark And on each bank.. they stand apart But somehow intertwine The bridge, for them, is obsolete No man-made method helps them meet And bond and blend and stand to greet The joy of Wintertime
For many people it also is the most stressfull time of the year.
For photographers it is the time of the year, that nature gets asleep, and the lenses are focussed at the light. In Germany there are christmas markets at many places. Herewith a selection of places that I visited this year’s christmas season.
Christmas market Düsseldorf Köbogen/Shadowplatz
Christmas Market Neuss

Not that long ago, Germany has as well a rich coal producing history.
One of the largest squares were the Zeche, under the smoke of Essen (or the other way around)
After that the production was stopped, in the 70s, the area became at the UNESCO Architecture Memorial places.
Our visit to it can be settled in one word. Huge.
Immense buildings, a view in the recent history. I hope you enjoy the photos
